The Challenge

Conversion of 40,000 sq ft former bowling alley into a new Waitrose store, Preston’s first, for long-time customer, Royal London Asset Management. The project had a four-month programme deadline for handover to the Waitrose in-house fit out team, in order for the store opening to take place as scheduled.

Refurbishment involved strip out of existing fittings, roof and window replacement, removal of internal walls and installation of new flooring.

Russell WBHO was also responsible creating an attractive, double height glass atrium for the entrance lobby, plus external landscaping, car parking and delivery areas, and new paving along the store frontage.

Description of Works:

40,000 sq. ft. conversion which needed to be completed within a 4 month programme
Included strip out of existing fittings, roof and window replacement, removal of internal walls and installation of new flooring
Also responsible for the landscaping, car parking and delivery areas, and creating an attractive, double height glass atrium for the entrance lobby and new paving along the store frontage
