Industrial Construction

Industrial construction is in our DNA. From the very first ‘yard and shed’ in 1997 to the 1,000,000 sq ft logistics superhubs and state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities of today, Russell WBHO has been delivering quality industrial construction developments for more than two decades.

Our industrial construction clients are national and international manufacturers and distributors such as:

  • Fed Ex
  • Ford
  • MAN EFR
  • Interpart
  • AKW
  • Joy Global

And regional family firms including:

  • Duerr’s
  • Elcometer
  • Clwyd Compounders

As well as developers large and small like:

  • Harbert Management
  • Royal London Asset Management
  • Property Alliance Group
  • RFX Properties

With cost-effective design, condensed construction programmes, sustainability considerations and your bespoke requirements at the forefront of our approach, we consistently exceed expectations on the delivery of large-scale construction of industrial, manufacturing and logistics facilities.

Industrial Construction Credentials

Not just big sheds, but buildings with a series of very specific jobs to do, industrial builds can be as complex as they are distinctive. Be it a bespoke food manufacturing facility with precision-engineered installations and cleanroom technology, or a distribution hub with specific racking and loading dock requirements, Russell WBHO has experience of a vast range in ‘industrial’ builds.

Joy Global required a production and testing facility that could withstand the testing of international mining equipment. The Russell WBHO specialist design team worked within the requirements to create a space fit for purpose. Reinforced internal and external floor slabs can support machines of up to 100 tonnes. Pits up to 5m deep were installed to enable testing of roof support equipment used in the mining industry. The new state-of-the-art facility also had a 38,500 sq ft office in the industrial construction to house its operations team.

For the organisations with sustainability at the core of their industrial construction projects, Russell WBHO delivers, however big your ambition and we go so much further than just fitting solar panels. Formerly known as Baildon Business Park, the Sapper Jordan Rossi Park is a £9.6m development of 150,000 sq ft of new industrial space. The units constructed on site achieved BREEAM Very Good rating, praising the sustainability of the building design.

We’ve got plenty more environmental credentials and experience with a current site being fitted with the following:

  • PV panels
  • Roof lights for more natural light
  • Local sourced products to reduce carbon footprint
  • A water conserving sanitary ware
  • EV car parking spaces
  • Intelligent PIR lighting
  • VRV System heat pumps
  • Water leak detection
  • Smart BMS system

Alongside these eco-friendly fittings there’s a green transport plan in place and the sustainable materials are from ethical sources. Landscaping is being done with native trees and shrubs to enrich the surrounding ecosystems and habitats are being created for key protected species – both helping to achieve Net Gain in ecological habitat.

Our aim for industrial construction project clients who are interested in sustainability is to achieve BREEAM Excellent, or Very Good minimum.

When a client requires a project to be turned around quickly, if it’s feasible then Russell WBHO will deliver. The FedEx industrial construction project in Warrington, from land acquisition and design concept to planning and completion, took only 7 months. This included stripping the existing building back to its steel frame, extending the height of the rafters and adding an external air-conditioned office.

Russell WBHO has proven that no matter what size the industrial construction project, we can deliver. MAN ERF in Trafford Park is one of Europe’s largest commercial vehicle dealerships as a 100,000 sq ft facility. The project involved the demolition of the existing site, excavation and removal of iron ore, and recycling the demoed material for the foundations. Construction of the steel-frame structure, plus internal fit out, was completed in under 12 months.

Industrial construction development increasingly requires time-sensitive and sustainable builds which can be delivered cost-effectively within tight programme schedules. Our specialist in-house industrial team has refined the balance between cost and operational efficiency, ensuring the fastest, best quality build for each individual project.
