The Challenge

A technically-challenging three phase scheme to bring back into use120,000 sq ft across three buildings in Liverpool city centre. Vita Student offers 357 high specification rooms in the Grade II-listed Chapel the 1878 Crosshalls and 1960s Tinlings buildings, all located on a busy city centre street.

Tinlings Building – 134 Apartments

Full structure requiring soft strip only and existing concrete frame was to be retained and utilised. For strip included removal of existing curtain walling façade and asbestos panelling. The façade to be replaced with new curtain walling system. Two new levels to be erected in structural steel on top of the existing structure to create further accommodation.

Basement level, subject to full demolition including soft strip and structural works. New steel mezzanine to be installed to create further space for living accommodation and social areas. Ground floor level to be used as a retail space.
