To celebrate the true meaning of Christmas, Russell WBHO is donating to three charities close to our employees’ hearts.
The first is METUPUK, a charity focused on metastatic (secondary) breast cancer (MBC), an incurable disease which is the leading cause of death in women aged 35-64. Founded by the mother of one of our staff members, the charity raises awareness of the cancer and campaigns for equitable treatment. Unfortunately MBC is largely misunderstood and patients face challenges to get access to medication that could improve their quality of life and slow down the progression of their disease. METUPUK strives to break these barriers, giving a voice to sufferers and a better future for all MBC patients.
Providing a vital service for vulnerable young care leavers, Next Step is the second worthy cause to benefit from the donation. Run by Salford City Council, the amazing team supports 16–25 year olds, some of whom are facing a challenging Christmas alone. Our donation will go towards Christmas presents for these young care leavers to remind them they are loved and supported over the festive period.
The MS Society is the third charity to be supported by Russell WBHO. Nominated by an employee who has been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, the charity funds world-leading research on the condition, which affects circa 150,000 people in the UK. MS researchers rely on donations to change the future of MS and work on ways to slow or stop its progression. They also offer vital resources to support those living with MS.
This is the fourth year we’ve asked colleagues to put forward charities for our annual Christmas donation. All of the nominations are based on personal experience and highlight the invaluable work delivered by organisations locally and across the UK.
By providing funding, we hope to make a difference while raising awareness of good causes that really matter to our staff.
