Russell WBHO celebrates Mental Health Awareness Week

BUILDING CONNECTIONS FOR MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS WEEK

Russell WBHO has championed the power of human connection in support of Mental Health Awareness Week 2025.

Team members from across the business took part in a variety of activities and fundraising efforts centred around this year’s Community theme and tackling loneliness. Often hidden in plain sight, loneliness can affect anyone and for many different reasons. Even those who are surrounded by people can feel isolated and disconnected.

It’s also a feeling that can be prevalent in industries like construction. As highlighted by Lighthouse – the construction industry charity proudly supported by Russell WBHO – workers can face long hours, time away from home, or working in isolation. These factors can contribute to a sense of loneliness, even in busy environments.

Running from 12 – 18 May, the activities that took place were:

  • Date:
    16th May 2025
  • Category:

Back by popular demand: Fake it or Bake it – All week (from Monday 12th May)

Staff brought in their favourite sweet treats for our cake sale, with a mystery prize up for grabs for the best homemade goods!

Coffee and Cake – All week (from Monday 12th May)

Staff were encouraged to take a short coffee break away from their desks and pop into the kitchen for coffee, cake and a chat. It’s good to talk!

Wear it Green Day – Thursday 15th May

Green is internationally recognised as a symbol of Mental Health Awareness.  Staff wore green to show colleagues, loved ones or simply those they walk past that they care about the mental health of others!

Win a Wellness Day!

Anyone who donated via the JustGiving page raising vital funds for the Lighthouse Charity during week was entered into our wellness day raffle: a day where you can do whatever makes you happy!

From the buildings we construct to the people we employ, community is a theme that resonates deeply within the construction sector. Fostering strong connections and a sense of belonging can have a powerful impact on mental health, helping individuals feel seen, supported, and valued.

It was fantastic to see so many of our team getting involved in Mental Health Awareness Week, raising awareness of an important issue and generating much needed funds for Lighthouse!
