Fun, friendship and food were the theme of the week as Russell WBHO marked #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek2023.
Staff at the Trafford Park HQ and sites across Manchester and Cheshire took time out this week to take part in fundraising and awareness raising activities.
A “Time to Talk Coffee Morning” encouraged guests to talk about their understanding of mental health and add a Post It to the Smile Wall highlighting something which makes them happy, while the Breakfast Club, Cake Sale and Raffle all invited people to make a donation to the Lighthouse Club.
The raffle proved particularly popular as top prize is a night’s stay at the stunning new Municipal Hotel in Liverpool which the company recently completed restoring.
The lucky winner was Martin Sage and the team managed to raise a whopping £1,005 for charity.
“Raising awareness around Mental Health is all about normalising the conversation,” said HR manager Olivia Lea.
“Our focus this week has ben on encouraging people to talk about the issue, not necessarily about their own mental health but about the topic in general. It’s important for people to understand the issues around mental health, what factors can lead to stress, anxiety and depression, so they are better able to identify it in themselves and seek help, or in others and offer support.
“This week our Breakfast Club at head office offered super healthy options for sale, with all proceeds going to the Lighthouse Club, and cake sales across all our sites helped not only raise money but also a few smiles among the site teams.
“We’re pleased with how people have supported Mental Health Awareness Week again this year and the positive way mental health issues are now being discussed and respected.”
