Russell WBHO has strengthened its portfolio of specialist temperature-controlled projects after being appointed to deliver a new £13 million cold store for StoreLogs in South Kirkby, Wakefield.
The design-and-build contract adds to Russell WBHO’s expertise in industrial and cold chain construction, with more than one million sq ft of temperature-controlled storage delivered across the UK. As a member of the Cold Chain Federation, Russell WBHO has completed projects for major logistics, food and pharmaceutical clients, including Lineage Logistics, NFT Logistics, TNT, Mawdsleys and wholesalers at Manchester’s Smithfield Market.
The new 46,250 sq ft facility will be constructed at StoreLogs’ headquarters at Langthwaite Business Park, expanding the company’s existing depot and head office operations. Once completed, it will provide capacity for more than 12,800 additional pallet spaces, supporting the continued growth of cold chain logistics across the North of England.
Designed to operate at temperatures as low as -24°C, the single-skin cold store will incorporate advanced refrigeration technology that exceeds the UK’s best practice benchmark for energy performance. Russell WBHO’s scope of works includes the installation of insulated cladding, mobile racking systems, full mechanical and electrical services, and the construction of an external yard, delivering a highly efficient facility designed to maximise operational performance while improving environmental sustainability.

The appointment reinforces Russell WBHO’s expertise in delivering complex temperature-controlled facilities where energy efficiency, operational performance, and programme certainty are critical to clients.
Construction is now underway, with completion scheduled for May 2027.
