This is Russells second new store for the retailer, following the completion of another scheme in Kent. Designed by architects from the Harris Partnership, the £6.4m Altrincham development has created more than 300 jobs.
Gareth Russell, director at Russells Construction, said: “The Russells team has a lot of experience of this type of retail construction and the project progressed as planned, completing on time and on budget. It’s always good when a new store finishes, to see the operator move in, the staff getting started in their new jobs, and the customers shopping. I’ve been back to have a look since it opened to the public and it looks great.”
John Clarke from Property Alliance Group said: “We identified this site as being ideal for a large format retail store and worked with Asda to help them get a foothold in this local market. Russells has done a great job on site, keeping everyone up to date with progress and even managing to hand over the competed shell a few weeks early.”
Over the years, Russells has built stores for retail brands including Waitrose, Morrisons, Lidl, Aldi and B&Q, as well as retail parks for Derwent Holdings in Manchester, Salford, Hull, Warrington and Sheffield.
