Russells completes Manchester’s Manhattan

Russells has completed a seven-storey residential scheme in Manchester city centre for Property Alliance Group.

All 42 of the one and two-bedroom apartments were sold off plan, with the first tenants moving in recently.

Located off New York Street, the project saw the regeneration of a 1970s office building.

The front façade and part of the original five-storey building was retained and enhanced, with the red brick tinted blue, while a two-storey upwards extension has been finished in glass and copper panels.

Manhattan Exterior

Designed in a New York loft style by architects Cube and JM Architects, each flat has floor to ceiling windows and private terraces set into a multi-level garden wall. On the seventh floor, there are duplex penthouses.

The ground floor has a 2,120 sq ft retail or leisure unit which is available to let.
Alex Russell, managing director of Alliance, said: “The completion of Manhattan closely follows Axis, adding our second residential development to Manchester city centre this year.

“It’s a building that mixes contemporary and industrial architecture and has a unique position in the city centre, situated opposite Chinatown. This location combined with high spec finishes and private terraces has proved really popular with buyers, generating quick sales.”

Support services for Manhattan residents will be provided by Alliance City Living.
