Russell WBHO secures second project with Village Hotel Club to extend Solihull hotel

New contract builds on existing relationship, which has seen Russell WBHO support Village Hotel Ashton’s extension

Russell WBHO has strengthened its partnership with Village Hotel Club, one of the UK’s market-leading hotel and leisure club brands, securing a contract to extend Village Hotel Club Solihull.

The multi-million pound project will add 48 new bedrooms to Village Hotel Club Solihull. The four-story extension will be connected to the main hotel building – which will remain open and fully functional throughout the build – via a newly constructed link bridge.

The project adds to Russell WBHO’s work at Village Hotel Ashton in Greater Manchester where the team is delivering a similar expansion. With construction already underway at Solihull, the project is scheduled for completion by March 2026. The Ashton extension is on track for handover in November 2025 with the steel frame in place and cladding progressing ahead of the internal fit out.

These extensions build on Village Hotel Club’s multi-million pound hotel investment and upgrade programme, which has seen the hotel group enhance its estate through extensions, bedroom refurbishments, and upgrades to its Health & Wellness facilities.

Gareth Russell, Managing Director at Russell WBHO, said: “We’re proud to continue building our relationship with Village Hotel Club, delivering a turnkey service across multiple regions.

“This latest contract reflects the success of our collaborative design process, which has created new hotel and bedroom layouts that will boost capacity across the Village Hotel portfolio.

“Our approach at Solihull mirrors the proven methods being delivered in Ashton with a focus on quality, safety, and minimising disruption for guests and staff.”

Andrew Weisz, Head of Property at Village Hotels, said: “As our project with Russell WBHO to extend Village Hotel Ashton continues at pace, we’re delighted to have appointed the company to extend Village Hotel Solihull.

“This will see 48 bedrooms added to the hotel, as part of our significant portfolio-wide investment programme.

“As ever, these works will be carried out with minimal disruption to guests and our existing facilities.”

Over the last decade, Russell WBHO has delivered more than 2,500 hotel rooms for major operators across the UK including Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, Accor, Premier Inn, Motel One, Holiday Inn, Travelodge, Radisson and Dalata Hotel Group.
