The contemporary building is part of a wider regeneration programme at The Wharf and is located on a previously derelict site on the banks of the canal. Built within the canal basin regeneration area, the construction required piled foundation with a concrete transfer deck and timber frame above.
The building envelope was finished in a combination of Trespa render, black and buff facing brick to match surrounding buildings. The project represents a £5.2million investment by the hotel chain and has created 15 jobs for people in the local community. Russells undertook the new build programme over 12 months.
