Empty for many years, renovation of the stunning 19th century building required careful management of the interior installations and preservation of the original features. Russell WBHO worked closely with Historic Scotland to preserve heritage including the original cage lift, flooring and wall tiling.
Externally the red ashlar stonework was cleaned and gold leaf detail painstakingly recreated. Located in one of the city’s main thoroughfares near two major train stations, the building also houses two ground floor retail units, one of which remained open throughout. Site cabins were housed on stilts above walkways to enable free flow of pedestrians and traffic, and minimise impact on existing businesses.
With a portfolio of clients spanning the commercial, industrial, retail, leisure and residential sectors, Russell WBHO has the experience and expertise to deliver schemes on time and on budget.
